Andrea Bugna Teran was born and raised in Iloilo City. She graduated with an environmental science degree from the Ateneo de Manila University. She put her MSc degree on hold a few years ago to explore poetry and still, her love of science often surfaces in her writing. She was Artist-in Residence with the Green Papaya Art Projects last year, where she curated a montly writers-in-conversation program. She is currently working as a researcher/legislative staff for a bicameral commission on science and engineering.
