RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works - such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and videos - in a standardized format. (Wikipedia)
Using applications such as Thunderbird or a website such as Bloglines, you can read POC articles and monitor updates from other websites, without having to go to them one-by-one.
If you're using a browser like Firefox, you can use it to view RSS feeds and also set your default RSS viewer. Just click on the RSS icon
in the address bar and you'll be automatically taken to a preview of the feed.
