In the official statement from Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, the show will be called "Pilipinas Win na Win" and will include Robin Padilla as co-host. Wowowee female hosts Pokwang, Mariel Rodriguez and Valerie Concepcion will join the new game show as well.
The team behind the new noontime show will be director Johnny Manahan, creative director Bobot Mortiz, business unit head Jay Montelibano, and executive producers Phoebe Anievas and Randy Recato.
Earlier named "Pilipinas for the Win," the newest ABS-CBN offering will air right after the talent search program, "Showtime." "It is a game and variety show that will surely bring joy, energy and hope to Filipinos all over the world,” Osorio said.
This re-shuffling of programs is the final result of the controversial row between Willie Revillame and talk show host Jobert Sucaldito. Revillame earlier threatened to resign from the top-rating noontime program unless ABS-CBN executives would fire Sucaldito.
Sucaldito earned the ire of Revillame because the former lambasted the variety show, the "Willie of Fortune" segment in particular, in his radio program in DZMM.
Kris Aquino, who is currently in the US with her sons Joshua and James, sent this message to ABS-CBN, "I'm happy to be part of the new noontime show, and to work with Robin, Pokwang, Mariel and the whole production team. I'm excited to be back on television."
It can be recalled that Aquino left her talk shows “SNN” and “The Buzz” just before the inauguration of her brother, President Noynoy Aquino.
Revillame, on the other hand, has been informed of the fate of the show that launched him to stardom. “Willie Revillame, through his manager, was already informed about this new development,” Osorio said.
A new show is in the works for Revillame, but according to the ABS-CBN executive, "This will be announced in due time."
But there are talks that the new show might not come to reality at all. In Tim Yap's twitter account, it was posted, "Willie was supposed to come back with a new show-his own--but I guess the negotiations went pfft-it didn't push through."
Tim Yap added, " He "newly proposed" a title--one that is so close to the "new title" of the new show."
The other Wowowee hosts, Kelly Misa, Carmen Soo, Isabelle Abiera and Jed Montero, who joined "Wowowee" just a few months ago, will not be included in "Pilipinas Win na Win." But Misa has earlier said that this will not affect the friendship she has formed with her co-hosts. “..No matter what, sama-sama pa rin kami. Even without ‘Wowowee,’ parang sila na ‘yong best group of girl friends ko in showbiz,” Misa said.
Misa posted in Twitter, "I will forever be thankful to my Wowowee family for giving me this great opportunity! The best 3 months of my life!"
Luis Manzano, who also pinch hit for Revillame in the soon-to-be defunct show, said in his twitter account, “It was a good run.”
Incidentally, Wowowee's last telecast will fall on the 31st anniversary of its rival, "Eat Bulaga."
