Another controversial photo is making the rounds online. Anne Curtis and Sam Milby were dancing on stage for the taping of the March 28 episode of the variety show ASAP XV when her swimsuit slipped, revealing the right breast for about ten seconds.
Sam Milby gallantly came to her rescue and hugged her to prevent further exposure. "It was right after we did the lift. As soon as I let her down, I noticed [the swimsuit slipped], that's why I pulled her straight to me. I wanted to make sure that, you know, it was covered."
The 25-year old actress cried inconsolably. The production team decided to shoot the segment all over again, so viewers will not be able to see it on tv.
The audience, however, had already recorded the wardrobe malfunction on their cameras and mobile phones. ASAP's staff and crew pleaded with the people to delete the incriminating photos and video.
But the photos and videos were uploaded in no time on social networking sites and the Youtube. It even made its way on the cover of a tabloid, Pinoy Parazzi.
Veronique del Rosario-Corpus, manager of Viva Artists Agency, implored the public to take heart.
"We are appalled by the behavior of some people who have irresponsibly posted, over the internet, a photo of our artist, Ms. Anne Curtis Smith, taken during the taping of one of her production numbers for ASAP XV.
"What happened during the taping was an unfortunate accident. Nothing was done intentionally. Anne was merely doing her best to deliver a solid performance as an artist.
"It is disheartening to discover though that certain people have taken advantage of the situation, maliciously uploading the photos over the internet. Worse, participating in the proliferation of the same over the net.
"Obviously, some unscrupulous individuals have capitalized on this misfortune and consequently exploited our artist whose only fault was to do her job well.
"We appeal to these individuals, please have a little respect and decency... to stop posting the photos and distributing the same. Think of your sister, your mother, your wife, and your daughter. Have a heart."
"Team Anne" supporters rallied behind her, pleading with the people not to spread the photos and videos. "Just because she is a celebrity does not give the people the right to post these videos and pictures online, " a fan reasoned.
But in the comments section of this website, many felt that it was Curtis' fault that this accident happened. A netizen posted, " Nagsuot ka ng ganyan ka-revealing (you wore something that revealing), what do you expect?"
Another thought it was a publicity stunt." First, para mapa-ingay ang ASAP XV dahil threat sa kanila ang launching ng Party Pilipinas this Sunday. Second, para sa Babe,I Love You na malapit na ang showing? (First, to create a stir for ASAP XV because they are threatened by the launching of Party Pilipinas this Sunday. Second, for Babe I Love You which will be shown soon).
In an interview with Gretchen Fullido, Curtis expressed her dismay over the people who took advantage of the situation. "It makes me really sad, I feel really disrespected. Nakaka-dishearten na may mga taong ganon. I'm not doing anything bad to them so bakit kailangang gawin sa akin to? (It is disheartening that there are people who are like that. Why would they do that to me?)"
"I expected it [to be uploaded online] because of the cellphone cameras. But I didn't expect it to come out publicly on a tabloid. That I was not aware of. I really don't appreciate them doing that, not even covering or blurring what came out. They didn't show respect. They didn't even inform me, " Curtis said.
When asked on her plans to file charges on the tabloid, she replied, "They [the management] said they would look on it. We just found out now, I have no idea what action [to take]."
Both Curtis and Milby were visibly disgusted at the accusation that it was all gimmickry. "Really? Who would want to expose themselves as a publicity stunt? Anne has never exposed herself in any way," the actor said in defense of his co-star.
"I was just doing my job. I was just doing my best in the dance number. It was an accident that happened," she added.
Now Curtis would rather put the controversy behind her. "I have to move on. It happened, there's nothing I can do. I'd rather not stay around and cry over spilled milk. "
And Curtis may just get over this humiliating episode very easily what with the enormous support of her loyal fans. In her Facebook fan page, many netizens promised that they will boycott the spread of her photos and videos. One member of the fan club posted, "Don't worry, we still believe in you no matter what."
