The year 2010 is destined to be a year for DongYan, a moniker given by the fans to reel and real life sweethearts Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera.  The lovebirds will have a busy year with a new movie and a teleserye in the works.  DongYan diehards are on their toes once again to help make their beloved love team’s projects a success.

You to Me are Everything

Dantes and Rivera started shooting on March 5 for their second movie, You to Me are Everything. The last time the two actors teamed up for a movie was for One True Love which was shown in November 2008. The said flick grossed P50 million even when it was shown on the same week as the teen vampire movie Twilight.

It is not surprising, therefore, that their fans are so excited for the new movie, even creating a thread in the iGMA.tv forum for the sole purpose of being updated on the latest buzz about it. The love team’s avid followers have even made an unofficial movie poster so that they can start promoting You to Me are Everything for their beloved stars.

You to Me are Everything is slated for release on May 12.  It is a romantic comedy directed by Mark Reyes, the same director who made My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend which starred Rivera opposite Richard Gutierrez. The movie will also bring back the tandem of Reyes and writer Aloy Adlawan who worked together in GMA-7’s Philippine version of the Korean romantic comedy series Full House. Confirmed cast members include Sandy Andolong, Manilyn Reynes, Isabel Oli, and AJ Dee. It is a joint production of movie giants GMA Films and Regal Films.

Endless Love: Autumn in My Heart

After filming You to Me are Everything, GMA-7’s top love team is scheduled to start working on the Philippine version of the bittersweet Korean drama Endless Love: Autumn in My Heart. Dantes and Rivera will play star-crossed lovers Johnny and Jenny. It is said that the network is thinking of casting TJ Trinidad as Andrew to complete the love triangle but fans are hoping to see Dennis Trillo instead.  Trillo was Rivera’s love interest in Darna, her latest teleserye.

The teaser of Endless Love: Autumn in My Heart was shown during the Philippine Ad Congress held in November last year as part of the GMA Telebabad offerings for 2010.  It is expected to be launched in April this year.

Other projects

Marian Rivera is currently busy working on the set of Show Me Da Manny, the GMA-7 sitcom which also stars Manny Pacquiao.   She will also star in three more movies scheduled to be released before the year ends.  Reports confirmed that she will play the lead role in Super Inday which will be Regal Film’s entry in the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival. She will also appear in Shake, Rattle, & Roll XII, and in another secret project.

Meanwhile, Dingdong Dantes is still hosting Family Feud on GMA-7. He replaced Richard Gomez in November 2009 while the latter is on leave to prepare for the May 2010 elections. He has already expressed his willingness to vacate the hosting gig should Gomez return to the show after the elections.

Still going strong

DongYan fans will be glad to hear that their idols are still very much in love with each other. Traveling together has definitely made their bond stronger. The couple celebrated the holidays in Boracay which became more memorable since it was Rivera’s first time to visit the place.

The two have also been on a one-week working vacation in the Middle East last February.  They appeared together with Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid in a concert for Filipinos in Qatar and Dubai. Before returning to the Philippines, the lovers visited Rivera’s Spanish father in Madrid, Spain. “Masarap, ang sarap ng feeling na nagkita uli kami (It felt good that we met again)," says Rivera of her father in an interview for the Chika Minute segment of GMA-7’s 24 Oras.  She said that she was able to introduce Dantes to her father and to other relatives as well.  Dantes, on the other hand, says that no pamamanhikan happened during the visit.  However, he believes that he has shown his girlfriend’s dad that he is “someone he can trust, someone na alam niyang nandito para sa anak niya (someone who will always be there for his daughter)."

With reports circulating about the two being secretly married, Dantes assures fans that they will never keep their wedding plans a secret.  He was quoted to say “we would never waste that privilege, that importance, that great sacrament just for something that will be kept secret” in the exclusive interview published on YES! Magazine’s February 2010 issue. However, no definite timetable has been set regarding their wedding plans.  For now, fans can only content themselves to seeing their favorite primetime couple get married on screen.
