Can Lindsay Lohan leave her dark past?

lindsaylohanWhen 2010 started Lindsay Lohan, 23, was quoted saying “2010 is about moving forward, not backwards. Leaving the bad (people, habits, and negative energy behind) time to make changes-right!?!? :)” This made people think that she really has moved forward and junked her not-so-good behavior until…

She was seen out for three consecutive nights again in Los Angeles after her recent trips to Atlantic City in New Jersey and London. Most of these nights, she was seen waiting at bars where her ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson, 32, works as a deejay. Ronson was reportedly avoiding her like the plague and was said to even have asked security to stay with her until Lohan left the club.

The Past

Lohan admitted to using cocaine in the past and placed the blame on her father, Michael Lohan. According to her, “I was only aware of cocaine because of my dad, I was terrified of it. But I tried it because I was stubborn, stupid, and wanted to see what it was like." She has been going in and out of rehabilitation centers since 2007 and has bi-monthly therapy sessions and weekly alcohol education lessons.

During her rehabilitation days, Lohan was arrested once in May 2007 for drunk driving and again in July 2007 for having a “small amount of cocaine” in her purse.

Lohan reached rock bottom when her father filed divorce from her mother. “The reason Lindsay tries to drown her sorrows and mask her pain was because of my divorce from her mother,” said her father, “which in turn tore her apart.”

Lohan now assures everyone that her substance addiction is already behind her. "Now I'm in a place where I don't need to use anything," she told the paper, "and I can feel emotions because I choose to."

She also told one newspaper that she is now allowed to drink alcohol in moderation. "I'm allowed to drink now, but I know my limits," she said.

The Lindsay Now

Lindsay Lohan is a work in progress. While she may be seen “hemisphere to hemisphere from party to party,” according to a source close to Lohan, she is, after all, a designer, and as one, she is expected to attend events such as the Armani-hosted art event in Milan and at a designer’s Friday and Saturday runway shows. Lohan finds designing “therapeutic.”

Kristi Kaylor, the person running Lohan’s 6126 clothing collection, denies the impression that the actress is again, in trouble.  According to Kaylor, “She is very supportive of 6126 and very hands on,” and “She just finished styling and modeling in the photo shoots for the debut fall collection. I have to say, I was extremely impressed with Lindsay and think she is a very talented designer."

In the designing industry, Lohan has recently ended collaboration with fashion designer Emanuel Ungaro. Stephanie Solomon, a fashion director at Bloomingdale’s, predicted that Lohan’s style will attract the younger crowd, referring to the buttock-revealing dresses and strippers’ nipple stickers Lohan made. "I’m the first to say that in certain situations my name will cheapen things because that’s what people have made of it," Lohan said.

And just recently, Lohan has filed a $100 million lawsuit against E-Trade, for a Super Bowl ad featuring a boy apologizing to his girlfriend via video chat for not calling her the night before. She believes that the "milkaholic, boyfriend-swiping baby" named Lindsay featured is a caricature of her. Grey Group, the ad agency network behind the campaign, dismissed Lohan’s claim, saying that E-trade “just used a popular baby name that happened to be the name of someone on the account team.” Lohan is asking for $50 million in exemplary damages and another $50 million in compensatory damages.

According to a source close to her, “She needs to slow down a little bit and take time for herself and really figure out where she's going to do."
