Who’d have thought this is how the pieces fit? You and I shouldn’t even try making sense of it...
Nation, I find it difficult to imagine that our golden age under our beloved president GMA is nearing its end. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night, breaking into a cold sweat, shaking in fear and trepidation as the days go by and the end is closer and closer in sight. I’m sure many of my fellow patriotic Filipinos feel the very same way as I do now. The fear is palpable in the air.
Despite that, we see that our hardworking and prayerful president is still far from done, and is clearly pulling out all the stops to assure us that the country will still be running like clockwork even after her term, as she has recently made key appointments for her manicurist and gardener, turning them overnight from lowly menial workers into genuinely influential and powerful individuals. Their change of fortune is truly a great cause for celebration, as it proves that there is nothing the Filipino cannot achieve if they work and pray and suck up hard enough. There is truly justice in this world.
Now, I understand that many would question such a decision and believe it yet another example of the kind of “transactions” they insist the president has always been wont to do, but all of that is mere prattle by destabilizers who don’t know any better. Our beloved president has shown yet again that she is truly a great leader: one who understands the nature of service and loyalty and is capable of rewarding it handsomely. Indeed, many people complain simply because they assume the worst of the president, all the time ignoring her good heart and generous soul. Was it not a beatitude in the Bible that reminds us that “the meek shall inherit the Earth?” Our beloved president is merely following what the Bible directs us to do, and is not casting a judgmental eye upon these people just because of their economic status.
Truly, if you work hard enough and are loyal enough, your efforts will bear fruit. This country is, unbeknownst to the naysayers, rife with opportunity, and our beloved president is not one to shy away from giving these opportunities to people because that’s the kind of person she is: compassionate, magnanimous, and remarkable. Anita Capron and Armando Macapagal (No relation to the president, mind you) are living examples of the president’s desire to see the common man represented in the government in sectors that actually affect the very lives of the common man. Their presence in their respective positions assures us that the government is not overlooking the role of the very people they serve, and serves as a safeguard against the capricious or the licentious who might have anything but the people’s interests at heart.
I forgot how we ever came this far. I believe we had reasons but I don’t know what they are...
As we know by now, Ms. Capron was appointed a trustee of the Pag-Ibig Fund, while Mr. Macapagal was appointed deputy of the Luneta Park administration.
In light of these appointments, coupled with the Supreme Court’s final blessings that our beloved president may appoint a new Chief Justice, we can see the undying love she has for our country that even on the day that she relinquishes the presidency (If she chooses so), there will be mechanisms in place to continue uplifting our way of life the way she has managed to for the longest time. Now, normally, the facts get in the way of what my gut feels, but I am certainly happy to spout undisputable and powerful statistics whenever it becomes convenient for my purposes.
In a recent SWS survey, a whopping 90% of those surveyed responded that GMA was the best president they have ever had. * As sure as the day is long, these numbers are indisputable, and for once, they correspond precisely to what my gut has been telling me all this time: we still need GMA. We still need her generosity, her kindness, and her influence in our daily lives. We need her inspiration and guidance, and her close ties to God. In short, we need to trust in GMA.
GMA moves in mysterious ways. It’s always so surprising how GMA appears over the horizon.
There is no need to debate about these so-called “midnight appointments” because we know and we believe that they are for our own good. Furthermore, it’s hard to call them “midnight appointments” because we’re still not entirely sure if her term will truly end after the elections. It could very well not come to pass, after all. There is no need to dispute these appointments because the government cannot run itself, and the president is only ensuring that things continue sailing smoothly as it has throughout her stay in office.
But still, it’s a mystery of how she ever came to be; which only proves GMA moves in mysterious ways...
At the end of the day, who are we to judge Anita and Armando and their merits or qualifications? Why is it impossible for us to fathom that a manicurist could become a trustee in Pag-Ibig, or that a gardener could become a deputy administrator in Luneta? Are we not looking down upon these people just because of their lowly stature? In the end, their obvious lack of qualifications should not stop these simple but hardworking folk from serving our nation.
After all, it has never stopped Noynoy Aquino, has it?
