NO LAUGHING MATTER

Marcelle Fabie

Nation, as deeply devout Catholics who respect the sanctity of life, we want to see these Muslim insurgents stamped out from all existence and whisked under the shameful rug of our history, once and for all.

Nation, it's time for ALL OUT WAR.

Strong words, indeed, but ever so often, as we begin to come to the realization of the sheer scope of what needs to be done to deal with this problem, we then come to terms with the bleeding heart liberals and their namby-pamby agenda gets in the way of the vengeance that Patriotic Filipinos® have been demanding for the longest time already. We cannot abide by this by any stretch of imagination any longer.

Nation, in the face of the death of 19 soldiers in the middle of supposedly ongoing peace talks between the government and the MILF, we cannot tolerate this any longer. For so long, we have wasted time and resources trying to make nice with these people, yet at the first opportunity, they are more than willing to resort to their baser instincts as is typical of their belief system. Surely, they are merely abusing the fact that as a Catholic nation, we are a peace-loving people.

Once again, P-Noy's unwillingness to do what is necessary for the good of this nation results in needless carnage. We cannot abide by this kind of wishy-washiness in the face of militant separatists who believe that during a ceasefire, the army should cease as they continue to fire. For that, we have casualties instead of gains to show, and all for nothing. Shall we allow these heroes to just die in vain? Their sacrifice must not simply ignored all in the favor of what? Of avoiding a conflict that is already clearly happening, to begin with? Let us call a spade a spade: there is already a war happening right in our own backyard: a war that can only get worse before it gets better, and here we are, treating it with kid gloves when we have the resources to make sure it is resolved swiftly and with finality. Obviously, the education budget can stand more cuts in the coming year in order for this to come to pass.

Nation, we must push for repercussions against these heinous acts against the few good men of our nation. We must not allow this travesty to come to pass without any consequences, for it undermines the very fabric of peace of mind and security that holds this nation steadfastly everywhere we go, aside from SM malls.

The outrage we feel right now springs from a righteous indignation against the double talk that we find the MILF engaging the government in, as, like snakes in the grass, they pretend to be willing to work together with this nation to finally allow the peace process to begin, only to strike the very hand that feeds it, considering the 5 million pesos we gave them out of taxpayer's money in aid of this so-called peace process.

This is, in truth, no laughing matter: 19 soldiers have been killed in action, the peace that we naively hope for no closer to coming to us while P Noy sits on his hands and refusing to entertain a final solution to once and for all stamp out this insurgent problem. Why is it that P Noy refuses to do what needs to be done? Does he not realize that he has the full support of all the Patriotic Filipinos if only he would finally pull the trigger and declare the war to end all wars against the MILF? Surely, he cannot ignore the clamor from these people!

After all, why would the Patriotic Filipinos even hesitate for one moment not to wage war against the insurgents, when they're not the ones who will be standing post and picking up the guns, to begin with? Each casualty we hear about in the battlefield will only embolden us and incite us further to wish a swift and decisive destruction upon these rebels while we bark out more violent suggestions from the very comfort of our own armchairs. Such is the privilege we are blessed with, and there's no reason to not take full advantage of it.

So let us send our soldiers into battle to avenge their own fallen brothers-at-arms, much in the same way the insurgents will surely send their men into battle to likewise avenge their own fallen brothers-at-arms. Let's throw away this silly peace process altogether and just continue tossing ill-trained soldiers to fight the battles we want them to fight because we obviously can't wage these battles ourselves, in the first place. Surely, this is the way to achieve long and lasting peace for the Philippine nation, once and for all. What's a few more casualties, so long as it's none of us important people, right? By all means, blow them all to bits, and let God sort the saints from the sinners Himself. That is no longer any of our concern.

Decades upon decades of a battle that has gone on for so long, we have all lost sight of who started any of it and why. All that matters now is a pyrrhic victory that would allow us to hold our head up high because the consequences of war will be too far from all of us clamoring for it to happen. We see our soldiers as the very people who will make our pipe dreams of peace and prosperity that has long been impeded by these Muslim insurgents to finally turn into reality. We will reach out to them as only we can, and we will communicate to them our mutual hopes and desires in a true public-private partnership.

Indeed, this peace process is slow, arduous, and a monumental waste of time. What we truly need is someone who is willing to take matters into his own hands and do what must be done to protect this nation. Ultimately, the few good men of this nation's armed forces must make the ultimate sacrifice, as their comrades have. They will do it for us. They will do it for the people.

IDidItForYou

Just like he did.

Nation, we Patriotic Filipinos are pacifists: freedom-loving people, and we will pop a cap in anyone who will try to deny this irrefutable fact. Death unto those who doubt our peaceful nature!

Marcelle Fabie (Pronounced "Fa-bee-yay".), who blogs on www.mistervader.com, is a man who embodies the two greatest characteristics of a Patriotic Filipino: he is patriotic, and he is Filipino. As an upstanding individual of strong moral fibre (i.e., he doesn't get laid), he puts the "grit" in "journalistic inteGRITy." Hard-hitting, fearless (except when it comes to Rick Astley), and unbelievably opinionated, he stands for truthiness, justice, and the Filipino way. He has a Pulitzer, a Nobel, an Oscar, a Grammy, and five other weirdly-named pet dogs.

He is also a notorious satirist.
