A solar iPhone charger and a desktop PC for the Intel i7 six-core

Novothink's solar iPhone ChargerThe good thing about the iPhone is that it's so popular that accessories companies are willing to invest in research and development for accessories that can support it, as opposed to companies who release and release new devices and forget about them. The good thing about the staying power of the iPhone is that the business case for mass-producing accessories for it becomes feasible. And this is what I think happened with the iPhone solar charger from Novothink.

It’s basically a case for your iPhone, with solar panels on the back that when exposed to the sun can charge the phone. We all know how battery life has become a problem with the iPhone, especially when you use it for everything-- games, e-mail, as a phone , as a GPS locator, etc. Novothink’s solar charger can charge your iPhone with 30 minutes worth of usage time with two hours exposure to sunlight. And what’s good about it is that the case need not be removed. If you want to charge it the normal way, the case with the phone can be connected via USB to your laptop. What I like most about Novothink’s idea is that you can literally charge your battery anywhere. Now if they can find a way to charge it anywhere at night…

Opera coming to the iPhone?

Opera says that the Opera and iPhone combination can really speed up mobile browsing. Now if only Apple would approve. Opera announced this at the mobile World conference last month, insisting that Opera Mini will be great for browsing while Safari is much better at data-intensive activities like browsing documents. Announcements from Opera have said that they are weeks away from submitting the Opera Mini browser for iPhone to the Apple store. According to the Norwegian browser provider, if this pushes through, browsing will be six times faster for the iPhone.

A desktop PC for Intel Core i7

Previously on Lintech, we gave you a brief description of Intel’s new and ever faster six-core processor, the i7-980X Extreme Edition processor, and now Origin PC has already come out with a desktop to complement the processor. Origin PC has released an upgrade for its Genesis Gaming PC. The addition of the six-core processor will set you back an additional $895, but wait, there’s more! You can add $149 and Origin will overclock the CPU to 4.3GHz from Intel’s factory setting of 3.33GHz. Sad thing is, even if you order now, the unit won’t arrive until April, and that’s in the US.

The cosmos in a pillow

I so love this pillow featured on Engadget that I just had to put it here. It’s basically a fluffy throw pillow, with red, yellow, and blue LED lights sewn into the threads and the pillow so that when the pillow is lit up, it looks like a cutout of a space cloud. It would surely comfort my little nieces when they’re afraid of the dark. It’s a bit expensive though at $37, and will probably be a little hard to clean.
