When the Ricoh GXR camera system was released last November 2009, it was very promising, with its lens units that combine sensors and the lens in a sealed casing providing more dust protection for the lens. When Ricoh set up an exhibit showing the many official accessories that can be attached to it, it was quite impressive. The most notable would be the sniper support monstrosity that needs a tripod, for the lens and not the camera. It seriously looks like it could fire a missile with that laser-scope-like-appendage on top.
Pre-ordering four iPads
For all those who want to, the iPad is now available for pre-ordering at the Apple Store. Although the gadget is not yet available until the 3rd of April, Apple has allowed those interested to pre-order up to two iPads. The two-unit-limit can be tweaked so that you can get four. ZDNet gives us a technique so that people can buy up to four iPads if they want. Apple allows two iPads per purchase and gives you a choice between picking up your products at the nearest store or having them delivered to you on April 3. Essentially, two and have it delivered to you and order another two and set it up for pick-up. That way, you can get four. But seriously, what are you going to do with four iPads?
.xxx gets Delayed
We brought you the news yesterday that a dot-xxx domain is underway to serve as the Internet’s red light district. Just today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and numbers (ICANN), the international governing body for internet domain names, has deferred the decision on a .xxx domain for at least 70 days during its meeting in Nairobi, Kenya. The proposal for a .xxx domain has been around since 2000 and has been rejected three times since.
Compact digital camera with SLR-quality pictures?
Sony has just released a promotional video of a digital camera (still unnamed) that promises SLR images but in a compact camera. It will sport a touch screen LCD monitor and an Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, and will have the ability to record AVCHD 1080p videos. It’s not an SLR per-se and it’s not a compact digital camera either, so expect, probably, a new sub-line of cameras from Sony in the days to come.
Organize your screen with Gridmove
Gridmove is a free / donationware software that lets you organize your windows to maximize the use of your screen. You may often find yourself alt – tabbing several times before you can get to the right window, or you can be just like me, resizing windows to just the right size so that you can fit four on your screen; the problem is, its really frustrating and sometimes even stressful. Well Gridmove gets rid of all of that frustration by automatically resizing your windows for you. What’s best is that it also has templates so that you can choose whether you want to fit three or four or eight windows on your screen at a time. Customizing the program template can be a bit tricky for non-techie people, but is manageable if you have html background.
