Michelle Phan may have the most popular makeup tutorials on YouTube, but she’s certainly not the only talented beauty guru out there. For you chinita girls who don’t know how to do makeup for your eye shape, here are five bubbly Asian beauty gurus who can help you out.
Hollyannearee
The stunning Holly Ann-AeRee (pronounced Ann-Ahh-Ree) didn’t start wearing eye makeup until she graduated from high school. Her Caucasian parents adopted her from Korea and she grew up in a small town where she was the only Asian girl in her high school. Learning how to do eye makeup was a trial-and-error effort, especially since there weren’t YouTube videos to help her out. Holly slowly learned how to apply makeup by herself and started a blog in 2007 after a MySpace friend encouraged her. She began her YouTube channel at around the same time, not realizing that it would eventually become a hit. It’s easy to see why her channel has over 50,000 subscribers today – Holly is beautiful, sweet, and tells it like it is. Besides beauty how-to’s, Holly also video-blogs about her fashion hauls and beauty hits & misses.

Chaigyaru
From the land down under comes Janice Wong (aka chaigyaru) with her doll-like makeup and pretty nail art. She’s not new to the blogging world, having kept a personal blog for about eight years now. Recently, however, she was inspired by YouTube gurus and makeup bloggers to start her own blog and YouTube Channel. After all, she enjoys talking to her friends about makeup and teaching them new tricks; why not share what she knows to the rest of the world? Janice’s tutorials are a great place to start if you’re looking for someone who can teach you everyday makeup. With her Revlon foundation routine and easy smoky brown eyes, you’re set for a day at the office or a casual afternoon with your girlfriends.

Manwomanfilm
The adorable Asahi Sasaki (aka manwomanfilm) has to be one of the most unique and underrated YouTube gurus out there. There are never any voice-overs or dialogue in her videos; just chill ambient music, great video editing skills, and her quirky personality. You can tell from her body language and facial expressions that she’s genuinely having fun with what she’s doing, which makes her videos so much fun to watch. She’s not afraid to be silly and she’s definitely not afraid of color! Her tutorials might be a little too avant-garde for the average person, but it’s easy to learn from her techniques and make her looks more wearable. If you want to break out of your comfort zone and experiment with color, Asahi is your girl.

BeautyCrush
Sammi (aka beautycrush) is a real beauty with her warm smile, great fashion sense, and humble attitude. Like Janice, she started out as a blogger and got inspired to start her own channel after communicating with other makeup enthusiasts. Her YouTube channel has a wide range of videos, from makeup how-to’s to product reviews. She doesn’t discriminate among makeup brands and uses a number of affordable products, proving to the world that you don’t have to use expensive brands to look fabulous.

CL2425
New York City-based Catalina (aka CL2425) didn’t set out to become a YouTube beauty guru. Her blog was strictly personal at first, but she started doing product reviews and FOTD (face of the day) looks as her interest in cosmetics grew. Catalina does a lot of smokey eye looks and can do mean tricks with liquid eyeliner. Check out her YouTube channel if you want to learn how to do dramatic eye makeup and basic everyday looks.
