10 for 2010 and Pilipinas 2.0 FAQs

1. What is 10 for 2010?

10 for 2010 is a project by the Philippine Online Chronicles (POC) in partnership with COMELEC and Kubol Pag-asa that invites people to choose 10 candidates that they would like to see in office in 2010. A Facebook application and a discussion page have been developed as a venue for these conversations.

    2. What are the aims for 10 for 2010?

10 for 2010 is a non-partisan effort that aims to generate meaningful political discourse with the youth of the Philippines. POC believes that new media and the emergence of the Internet will have a revolutionizing impact on next year's elections. POC aims to initiate this impact by generating discussion and interest among the youth of the country.

    3. What can readers do to participate?

    a. Join the Facebook group and participate in an informal poll using this Facebook application. This app is designed to encourage meaningful discussion within the tech-savvy segment of Philippine society about our electoral process.

    b. Attend Pilipinas 2.0, a gathering of various organizations and advocacies that call for change within society.

    c. Participate in the upcoming forums to be organized by POC in cooperation with Kubol Pag-asa from July 10 through April 10. Issues concerning human rights, education, and the environment will be discussed in congruence with the track record of election candidates and prominent political figures. You can be updated on schedules and venues by checking out the POC Presents: 10 for 2010 channel.

4. What is Pilipinas 2.0?

Pilipinas 2.0 is the first major event of 10 for 2010, a gathering that will bring together groups of different advocacies. Each group has unique goals and objectives, but they are all the same in their need and promotion of change. Each of them will be given a chance to talk about their causes in Pilipinas 2.0. The different views and perspectives will give Filipinos, especially the youth, a chance to broaden their understanding of the current political climate of our country in order to inspire them to participate in the upcoming 2010 elections.

Pilipinas 2.0 will occur on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the PLM auditorium of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. 22 different groups will be given a chance to have 10-minute presentations.

Together with the presentations and the open forum, there will also be performances by Noel Cabangon, Heber Bartolome, Papa Dom of Tropical Depression and Kontra Gapi, and comedy acts by Juana Change and Mr. Shooli.
