In the year 2008, the United Nations launched the Millennium Development Goals
(MDG’s). They instructed us to cooperate and do the best that we can in making this project or goal a success. But how can we?
Here’s a list of suggestions on how to achieve our goal no. 2:
1. Engage ourselves with outreach programs for the less fortunate.
- In this way, we could give our moral support and our donations for
the improvement their educational value.
2. Volunteer in missions that are related to sharing the beauty
of education to the street children.
-Efren Peñaflorida is a great example of a volunteer educator. If everybody
was as optimistic as he is, then, yes, we can surely reach this goal.
3. Encourage drop-outs and the out-of-school youth to go to
school regardless of the state of their living is.
-Being aware of the different benefits of having an education will
help the youth to be more focused and inspired to learn and discover new
things.
These are a few of the many things that we could do to help the government and the societies achieve the 2nd MDG.
Presidential candidates, will they do their share?
The 2010 elections are just a few months away. We’ve witessed different debates, political ads and different events where the candidates show-up. I am a Filipino citizen and I know I don’t really have the power to instruct the high officials of what they
need to do. But as a citizen, I’d like to give suggestions varying on the different ways of helping achieve the 2nd MDG.
So to our dear presidentiables, here are few of my suggestions:
1. Actions are better than words.
- Do what you say.
2. Give more budgets for education and stay away from corruption.
3. Do your job with the heart and not with greed.
Please accept my suggestions.
With a plate of determination, a glass of unity and a spoonful of optimism, we can
achieve this goal.
