POC launches Takbong Pangarap channel

takbong_pangarap_screencap_faq.jpgIn line with its vision as a new media publication showcasing alternative icons and their stories, the Philippine Online Chronicles (POC) has to date presented special channels featuring a Catholic activist priest and the country's first transgender female celebrity. Now, the POC ventures into sharing unique stories from the world of Philippine sports and introduces an athlete like no other.

Her name is Joy Rojas, and, in May 2009, she will begin running 5,000 km across the United States of America as she champions the belief that there is “no limit to the Filipino spirit.” The first Filipina to have ever run across the Philippines from Davao City to Pagudpud, she will try to become the first Southeast Asian woman to cross the US from California to New York. Her unprecedented run will be the centerpiece of Takbong Pangarap, the POC's new channel named after her historic endeavor.

Just like the POC's other advocacy channels, Fr. Robert Reyes' Parokya sa Web and the BB Gandanghari portal, Takbong Pangarap will feature regular news, features, photo, podcast and video updates of all events related to Rojas' trans-USA journey. The channel will not just feature Rojas or chronicle her ultrarun; it will also highlight the people she meets and the places she passes through as she makes her way through the US. Moreover, it will also enable people to truly follow her tracks, as the Takbong Pangarap portal will soon feature maps and more detailed descriptions of Rojas' route through California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

Moreover, the channel will also share details on how those interested in supporting Rojas' advocacy can help the Takbong Pangarap team make their dream run a reality. More information on how Filipinos all over the globe can donated funds or volunteer other forms of aid to the project will soon be available on the website.

The POC will also be hosting a bloggers' meet and greet with Rojas and the other members of the Takbong Pangarap team, pacer and navigator Mateo Macabe and team manager Chuck Crisanto, on April 15 at Fully Booked on Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City.
