In an interview with ABS-CBN, Dio said, “Nakangiti lang ako sa labas pero sa loob gusto ko umiyak sa saya.” (“I was smiling on the outside, but inside I wanted to cry for joy.”)
The former Mr. Universe of the Philippines and 1991 Southeast Asian Games medalist bested top six placers Frenchman Francois Gaurin, German Bernhard Klemmer, Romanian Cristian Mihailescu, Russian Dmitry Zolin and Bulgarian Dimitar Yovichin in the June 7 competition.
