One of the most common causes of breakups is the presence of a third party, but if Dingdong Dantes is to be believed, it was not the reason his relationship with Karylle went kaput.

Rumors point to Dingdong's perennial co-star and loveteam partner Marian Rivera as the culprit, which both Dyesebel stars have repeatedly denied in interviews.

“Marian has nothing to do with the break-up, wala kaming relasyon (there is nothing between us), but you can’t avoid people thinking that way...Gusto kong i-maintain ang loveteam at friendship namin. We’re okay at tuluy-tuloy pa rin ang trabaho namin (I want to maintain our loveteam and friendship. W're okay and our work goes on uninterrupted),” Dingdong said last week in an interview with the media during the shooting of One True Love, his upcoming movie with Marian.

“Wala po [kaming relasyon]! Tulad po ng sinabi ko noon, hindi po ako gagawa ng paraan para manira ng relasyon ng iba. Hindi ako mang-aagaw ng boyfriend para lang magka-boyfriend. Hindi ako magiging masaya kung may iba namang masasaktan. Hindi po ako selfish na gagawa ng isang bagay na makasasakit ng ibang tao (We do not have a relationship! Like I said before, I would never do anything to ruin other people's relationships. I wouldn't take someone's boyfriend for the sake of having one of my own. I wouldn't be happy if someone were to get hurt. I am not selfish enough to do something to hurt another person.),” Marian told the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP).

Marian's split with her non-showbiz boyfriend Ervic Vijandre “three months ago,” which the Philippine Star said was due to her career business and Vijandre's alleged discomfort with her sexy scenes, has only sent the noses of the gossipmongers twitching harder. There are also stories that she and Dingdong were spotted having dinner together at Sonya's Garden in Tagaytay on Nov. 1.

On Thursday, the Philippine Mari Mar said in a television interview that Dingdong had told her of the rumors surrounding the two of them.

“Sinabi [ni Dingdong] sa akin ‘yon kanina, ‘Uy may tsismis tayo, nasa Tagaytay daw tayo ganyan…,’ Ha? E sana pumunta [ang mga nagkukuwento] sa Cavite dahil nandun ako (Dingdong told me about the rumors, that we were in Tagaytay together. I hope the people telling these stories went to Cavite, because I was there.),” PEP quoted Marian's 24 Oras interview.

Meanwhile, Karylle has remained mum on her breakup with Dingdong. She is set to transfer to ABS-CBN after her recent change in managers, the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) reported. STAGES, responsible for the local production of West Side Story, where Karylle played a leading role, has taken over the singer-actress' career.

Before switching stations, she will finish all pending projects she has with GMA, including “appearances on SOP, Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5 and her singing of the Philippine National Anthem at the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar de la Hoya boxing match at Las Vegas, Nevada on December 6,” PDI said.

According to the Philippine Star, her business partnership with Dingdong remains intact, but they are no longer seeing or speaking with each other.

Dingdong and Karylle first admitted they were an item in 2005, during the press launch of GMA telefantasya Encantadia. Their romance “began on SOP,” ShowbizPinoy said. They were paired in television drama Love to Love and movie Bahay ni Lola 2.

Earlier, Dingdong had been linked with former loveteam partner Antoinette Taus.
