The presidency on a silver platter

presidential-candidates-debate-inquirerThank God for democracy because if we didn't have so many candidates gunning for the Presidency right now it would probably be served on a silver platter to Senator Noynoy Aquino. An effortless, smooth, and literally free ticket to the highest post of the land courtesy of the sweat and blood of other great men and women.

It's just like what my good friend Mike said on Facebook. Let's say you're an HR Manager at a company. One candidate comes up to you and shows you his resume. It's unimpressive. Nothing good in terms of experience. No notable achievements. Mediocre at best. The only glaring thing in the piece of paper is his answer to why he deserves the job. "Because I have never stolen anything in my life and I will not steal from the company in the future". Oh, that and his last name comes from one of the most influential families in the country.

Will you give him the job?

noynoy-ancSenator Noynoy Aquino's legislative track record is not stellar. In terms of achievements there's also nothing to talk about. Let's face it, the commercials and ads that he runs just emphasizes two points: he's the son of Cory/Ninoy and that he won't steal money. You know what's sad? Despite the obvious fact that he's not prepared to take on the Presidency, people by the millions flock to him as if he were some sort of Messiah sent from heaven. You want to know why? Marketing.

  • Yellow Ribbons.
  • The "L" hand sign.
  • Cory Aquino and Ninoy Aquino merchandise.
  • Cory and Ninoy on his TVC.

All of these come from the legacy of his parents which his campaign team is using to emotionally draw you to Noynoy. They're packaging him as the destined savior of the Filipino people because of his royal and clean bloodline. Why? Because they can't say anything else about him that will make you vote for him. To add to this we have Kris Aquino and other artistas who are using their influence to back Noynoy up, most probably for free or at a very low cost.

People say that Manny Villar is buying the Presidency. Well, as it stands Noynoy can get it for free. I don't know what's worse.

I applaud Senator Manny Villar, Senator Dick Gordon, Bro. Eddie Villanueva, Gilbert Teodoro, JC Delos Reyes, Nick Perlas, and even Senator Jamby Madrigal. Why? Because they are fighting a war using their own credentials. They are not treating the presidency as some sort of legacy that should automatically be given to them. They don't stand on other people's shoulders to prep them up into the limelight.

(Disclaimer: I am a supporter of Senator Manny Villar. My auntie, Susan "Toots" Ople is running for the Senate under the Nacionalista Party. I have very close ties with people from the Liberal Party and in fact support VP Mar Roxas and several of their Senatorial candidates. However I just cannot throw in my support for Senator Noynoy Aquino because of the reasons stated above)

Excellent points!! Just honestly answering the simple question, "Is Noynoy ready to lead?" will already guide a thinking voter not to vote for him.
You can call him a saint (w/ his rudeness, arrogance, and habit of mudslinging) but he's not just FIT for the presidency.
Mar Roxas should have never given his slot to him, tsktsk.
Ester T. Romano 23 February 10, 02:55 PM
mar roxas gave up for noynoy because he knows if noynoy will win, he does not the capability to manage
the presidency and will resign like erap, then mar will take the post. That will be the worst tarnishment of the
the legacy left by his parents. If cory is alive, she will
not let noynoy run, because cory knew that it is just a
political maneuvering of the people behind Mar in the
LP.
danny soliman 13 April 10, 03:27 AM
JC John Sese Cuneta 10 February 10, 07:27 PM
I strongly agree Carlo and mike. My VP, Mar Roxas. Presidency, it's down to 3 and Noynoy was never part of my list. He would have been if Mar is their Presidential ticket and Noynoy for VP.

But if he wins, then I'll support him.

Lyndon 10 February 10, 09:42 PM
Is that why Noynoy is still single? Because his only vow to women is that he won't steal?
Hyden Toro 11 February 10, 03:03 AM
Noynoy Aquino is a weak person. His parents
were made Heroes by the American Media.

You see his records in the Senate as a
Senator. Did he made any significant
differences for the country in his term?
Ester T. Romano 23 February 10, 02:57 PM
CHECK KA JAN!
liliram 11 February 10, 01:55 PM
Noynoy was never even considered worthy to be LP's VP bet then. Cory's death is now being used and abused by power vultures and Noynoy is absolutely clueless.
Ester T. Romano 23 February 10, 02:59 PM
If noynoy will win and resign like erap. The efforts of his parents were worthless and tarnished in history. Noy you have still time to back out than resign.
kitty cruz 11 February 10, 04:14 PM
If you repeat a lie often enough, you tend to believe it. People keep attacking noynoy's achievements as if all the rest (except maybe for dick gordon) have more. You are missing the point. It is the very essence of noynoy's character and integrity that will give us a chance to bring back all the values that we seem to have lost as a people and as a country where we seem to have become hopeless and cynical. Noynoy embodies all the good that we saw in his parents (self-sacrifice, integrity, humility and sincerity). He lives it, he breathes it - he has it. If people like you can't see that then maybe you are one of the people who needs a president like noynoy the most.
Miguel 12 February 10, 05:33 PM
Sorry, I completely disagree with you. No one even knows what Noynoy stands for. How sure are you he has integrity? The fact he barely did anything of consequence as a Senator and Congressman makes me wonder about his work ethic. There's no integrity in laziness. The fact that he squandered his colossal lead in the campaign makes me wonder about his leadership and managerial skills. If he can't even run an election campaign properly, what more the entire country? The only thing we know about him is that he's Ninoy and Cory's son and their perceived virtues do not automatically rub off on him. I cringe at the thought of this utterly incompetent person becoming the president of the Philippines. The road to hell is paved with good intentions... and good intentions are all Noynoy has up his sleeves.
GabbyD 13 February 10, 10:17 AM
how do u know he's lazy?

check the legislative info system for the list of bills authored... tell us if he's lazy...
Miguel 23 February 10, 04:44 PM
I just checked it. Noynoy only filed 9 bills in the Senate from 2007 to 2010. Villar filed 373 and Gordon filed 80 in the same time period. Even Bong Revilla and Lito Lapid filed more bills than Noynoy! I'm not sure what he was doing in the Senate this whole time other than being a "fiscalizer" (whatever that means and entails) but his record is far from stellar. Seriously, imagine Noynoy with all his qualifications (or lack thereof) was just some ordinary guy who was not from a powerful political clan, he would NEVER EVER stand a chance to be elected to a national position. Look at it from that perspective and see if you'd still vote for him.
Ester T. Romano 23 February 10, 03:01 PM
pag sure oi! Noynoy has the character? He can't even run a family of his own, then he is the hope? Pagsure oi!
kid dynamo 01 March 10, 08:40 PM
Execuse me, can i budge in on your topic?

I just want to ask some points to ponder about Senator Noy.

Remember Hello Garci? Noy voted in Congress TO BLOCK the playing of the Hello Garci tapes. And that same week he "commended" GMA for her "I am sorry" speech.

Then it took a week and he and his mother suddendly turned their back at GMA they are supporting and asked for her resignation.

I just want to ask in the 12 years of public service, what has Noy accomplished back then. As far as my reasearch show he only managed to submit 44 proposals and passed only 2 bills.

Were paying this guy monthly wages, allowances and not to mentioned the Pork Barrel, where do these amount go?

Just asking...
Jojo 11 February 10, 09:01 PM
That is why, it is very important of people to look at TRACK RECORDS. Let me ask you who has a long list of track record among the candidates? is it Villar, Gibo, or Richard Gordon?

http://pinoybiz.blogspot.com/2010/01/why-dick-gordon-is-better-than-noynoy.html
joe dado 13 February 10, 10:16 AM
Aquino is less likely to be corrupt, compared to Villar.
Ester T. Romano 23 February 10, 03:05 PM
No substance! Villar is not corrupt? Bakit proven ba in court?
