Ateneo de Manila High School took advantage of a good third quarter surge to finish off a resurgent Adamson Baby Falcons squad in their 79-66 victory. This victory gives coach Jamike Jarin's boys a 10-0 record, one win shy of eclipsing their mark from a year ago. They finished Season 72 with a 10-4 mark en route to a 2-1 series victory over De La Salle Zobel.

U-18 national team sensation Kiefer Ravena recorded the first triple-double this season in the juniors division, scoring 22 points, grabbing 10 boards, and dishing off 10 assists. Von Pessumal followed in the scoring column with 16 points, while Paolo Romero scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a showdown of two avian-monickered squads.

With the Blue Eaglets starting off strong off the gates, the Baby Falcons responded with a 10-3 surge to pull the rug from under the feet of Ateneo and lead by two after the first quarter.

Four quick buckets by Ateneo, including a three-point play conversion by Pessumal, stunned the San Marcelino squad and forced coach Jing Ruiz to sue for time. Off the timeout, Adamson responded with eight straight points of their own to pull within one point.

Pessumal, another member of the Philippine U-18 national team, once again converted on a three-point play which was followed by a three-point bucket in the next possession to pull the Blue Eaglets' advantage to seven points.

The Baby Falcons finished the second quarter strong with a 11-5 run, thanks to Angelo Quinlog and Irvin Mendoza scoring four points apiece to pull their team within one point at the intermission.

Off the break, Ateneo went on a 23-10 rampage, mostly from Jay Sacluti's six points in the third period to break away with a 14 point advantage, one that the Baby Falcons no longer recovered from.

In the loss, Joseph Manlangit and Irvin Mendoza led the Baby Falcons with 13 points each. Adamson has now dropped their third straight contest to land in sixth place at 4-6.

An earlier game saw the De La Salle Zobel Junior Archers hand University of the Philippines Integrated School its tenth straight loss of the season with a 97-72 demolition. Alexander Torres scored 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Joseph Tempongko added 22 points for the Green and White squad.

On the other hand, Far Eastern University-FERN whipped University of the East in a 30 point blowout, 78-48. Adiel Dimdam paced the Baby Tams with 15 points. Immanuel Custodio followed suit with 14 markers.

Finally, University of Santo Tomas won their first game in the first three games of the second round with a masterful 74-55 victory over National University. Ismael Corre led all scorers with 23 points. But another U-18 national team member, Kevin Ferrer, shone for the Tiger Cubs in amassing 16 points and pulling down a season-high 20 rebounds. Their win creates a triple tie with DLSZ and FEU-FERN in third place with identical 6-4 records. National U stays in solo second place with a 7-3 win-loss record.

Adamson remains unbeaten, National U wins second straight in women's division

Earlier in the day, National University defeated a hapless University of the East five in their 83-63 win. Jovelyn Mejia had a breakout game with a near double-double effort of 22 points and nine rebounds. Pamela Meneses scored 19 points for the Lady Bulldogs' second straight victory.

Cindy Resultay recorded another double-double with 30 points and 18 rebounds in a losing effort. The Lady Warriors are still seeking their first victory of the season, still anchored at the bottom of the standings with an 0-8 record.

With Analyn Almasan's double-double effort of 18 points and 19 rebounds, Adamson University snatched yet another victory, this time at the expense of De La Salle University, 60-45. The win gives the Lady Falcons an unblemished 8-0 mark that further solidifies their place as favorites to repeat as women's champion this season. Anna Buendia led all scorers with 19 points.

Center Kady Wilson was the only Lady Archer in double figures with 10 points. The loss drops De La Salle to 5-3, but still remains in third place behind Far Eastern University.
