Pacquiao hopeful of a knockout

Pound-for-pound boxing champ Manny Pacquiao hopes to knockout opponent Joshua Clottey in their much awaited bout at the Dalls Cowboys Stadium on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).

He said in an ABS-CBN report, "I am not going to promise you a knockout, but I will do my best…We have a strategy that we created in our training so people are going to be surprised."

A full-blown welterweight boxer, Clottey who only lost to world champions, on the other hand, said, "I will be the stronger than any fight before.. "I am ready." Clottey's coach also predicts Pacquiao’s defeat.

In the weigh-in, the 31-year old General Santos native tipped the scales at 145 pounds while Ghana's Clottey weighed in at 147 pounds.

Pacquiao has a record of 50-3-2 with 38 knockouts compared to Clottey's 35-3 with 20 KOs.

Pacman was supposed to fight American Floyd Mayweather Jr. but both camps had a controversial fallout after Mayweather Jr. insinuated that Pacquiao is using performance-enhancing drugs.

Entertainment

The fight will start about 10:15 pm Dallas time (0415 GMT) and organizers expect it to be shown live to 80 million homes worldwide, a report posted.

Filipino Journey frontman Arnel Pineda will sing the Philippine national anthem at the fight .

After the fight, Pacquiao will have a concert  and party at the Texas Ranger ballpark.

Some joked it would be a ‘national crisis’ if there would be brownouts during the airing of Pacquiao’s fight tomorrow morning.
