A day after a disappointing finish that saw numerous bridesmaid finishes, the Philippine contingent made up for the weak finishes during Day 7 of the 2011 Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia.
The country raked in four gold medals on Thursday, including a pair of one-two finishes in the women's 9-ball singles tournament (pool and snooker) and mixed pair buttler (bridge).
Iris Ranola, who previously claimed a gold medal in the 8-ball singles tournament, defeated fellow countryman Rubilen Amit in nine frames of the race-to-seven knockout match.
In the semi-finals, Ranola defeated Vietnamese Huynh Thi Ngoc Huy in 10 frames, while Amit disposed Hoe Shu Wah of Singapore in 11 frames to set up the all-Filipino final.
Meanwhile, the mixed pair of Mylene Urriquia and George Soo were bested by the duo of Gemma Mariano and Fransisco Alquiros to complete the other 1-2 finish in the day in the bridge competition.
The Philippines finished with a total of 15 medals in the day.
