The Supreme Court (SC) earlier today issued a temporary restraining order on the Commission on Election's (COMELEC) disqualification of Ang Ladlad party-list.
Ang Ladlad, a party-list representing homosexuals and transgenders, are thus allowed to run pending the SC's hearing on the merits of the party-list's petition to nullify their disqualification. According to Ang Ladlad's petition, “Homosexuality per se does not fall within the ambit of the penal law.”
The COMELEC en banc last month reaffirmed the poll body's Second Division's disqualification of Ang Ladlad, which cited moral grounds.
