EDSA celebrations ongoing

The celebrations commemorating the 25th anniversary of the People Power movement are in full swing.

Close to 5,000 people are at the People Power Monument.

Contingents from Quezon City, Caloocan, Malabon, and other places around the Philippines chose to march to the monument from the EDSA Shrine. The contingent from the Philippine Sports Commission, meanwhile, walked all the way from Ultra (PhilSports Complex) in Pasig City.

Government officials and other vital players in the drama that unfolded 25 years ago, toppling a government, are slated to appear at the monument later today.

A program is currently underway, with performances from Maharlika Cultural Group, and appearances by celebrities such as Dingdong Dantes.

Singer Jim Paredes, television personality Maan Hontiveros, and President Benigno Aquino III's nephew Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV came onstage to "annotate what happened 25 years ago." -- With reports from Karlo Sevilla III
