At 1:30 in the morning, actor Richard Gutierrez was involved in a car accident which resulted in injuries to himself and his bodyguard George Mastura, and the death of personal assistant Nomar Prado.
Inquirer.net reports that Gutierrez was driving his Nissan GTR sports car down a curved stretch of Tagaytay-Sta. Rosa Road in Cavite when he lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a post in the opposite lane. They were coming back from shooting a plug for Gutierrez's latest project, a remake of the Korean drama series Full House.
He and his companions were rushed to the Adventist University Hospital where Prado was declared dead on arrival. According to sister Ruffa Gutierrez, Richard underwent a two-hour surgery for his corneas because pieces of glass had fallen into his eyes. In addition, he had to get stitches for multiple cuts on his face.
The Gutierrez family has since moved him to Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang. GMA-7 CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon has said that the network will be paying for the 25-year-old actor's hospital bills and for Prado's burial.
