Film critic shot dead at QC home

Film critic Alexis Tioseco and his live-in partner Nika Bohinc were shot dead at their home in Barangay West Triangle, Quezon City yesterday night by burglars.

ABS-CBN News reports that one of the couple's household helpers, a woman named Criselda, was witnessed to have aided three armed men enter the house. Tioseco and Bohinc were shot as they entered the house.

The burglars, including Criselda, escaped in the couple's white Ford Lynx, carrying with them an undetermined amount in jewelry and a laptop. The vehicle was recovered by the police along West Avenue in Quezon City early Wednesday morning.

Tioseco was the founding editor of Criticine.com, an online journal on Southeast Asian Cinema. He was also a professor at the University of Asia and the Pacific. Bohinc was a Slovenian freelance journalist and programmer.
