MMDA: No number coding from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Traffic Discipline Office OIC Yves Gonzales said the vehicle number coding scheme in Metro Manila will be lifted from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 This includes Las Piñas and Makati which usually defers from the suspension.

"As per Mayor Binay, lifted na din Number Coding in Makati on Nov 2. So Number Coding (is) lifted (for the) whole Metro Manila (from) Oct. 31 (to) Nov. 2," Gonzalez tweeted.

This will allow the motoring public easy access to roads as they head back to Metro Manila from the long holiday.

The number scheme or the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) is usually suspended on weekends and during public holidays.

Under the UVVRP, vehicles with license numbers ending in 1 and 2 are not allowed along EDSA and other major streets in Metro Manila on Monday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those ending in 3 and 4 are not allowed on Tuesday, 5 and 6 on Wednesday, 7 and 8 on Thursdays and 9 and 0 on Fridays. However, there are “window hours” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. except in Makati and Las Piñas.

Cities that do not implement the number coding system are Marikina, Muntinlupa. Taguig and Parañaque. Pasig City has longer window hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
