Palawan Underground River among provisional 7 Wonders of Nature

The Puerto Princesa Underground River made it to the provisional list of winners of the New Seven Wonders of Nature after the first count of votes yesterday.

Among the provisional winners are the Amazon rain forests in Latin America, Iguazu Falls in Argentina, Halong Bay in Vietnam, Table Mountain in South Africa, Komodo Island in Indonesia, and Jeju Island in South Korea.

In its official website, New7Wonders Foundation clarified that the provisional winners are not yet confirmed since the vote results will still be verified. The official list of winners will be announced in the official inauguration ceremonies in early 2012.

"It may happen that one or more of the provisional winners announced today will not be confirmed during the validation process, New7Wonders will issue a media update should this happen," New7Wonders Foundation president Bernard Weber clarified.

Originally starting with 440 entries, 28 were included in the New Seven Wonders of Nature finals. The seven winning places were selected by text and online votes.

The Philippines` Palawan Under Ground River (PPUR) is one of the most amazing works of nature. It is more than 8 kilometers long. The rock formations rock formations clinging to different sizes and heights are sights to behold. fossils of prehistoric mammal was visibly preserved in one of its cavernous wall. different species of both salt and fresh water fishes abound its waterway and recently new minerals have been discovered that are not found in other subterranean rivers.
