With only hours before the 82nd Academy Awards ceremonies at the Kodak Theatre, fans, moviegoers and stars are all set for this year’s Oscars to be hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. This will be the first time the Oscars have featured a hosting duo since Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase in 1987. Entertainment columnists said that this year’s most anticipated show can run up to four hours.
The rehearsal night on the eve of ceremonies looked like a casual version of the Oscar night. “Instead of the glamorous gowns and tuxedoes they'll wear for Sunday's big show, the stars were relaxed in jeans and sneakers. And instead of being live on the air in front of millions, they performed behind closed doors for a small crowd of show workers,” Yahoo News posted.
Movie critics and fans have posted their predictions with a list of Oscar Winners: "Will Be"s and "Should Be"s.
The Oscars coverage starts with the red carpet where viewers will get a chance to see all their favorite stars walk the carpet, see who their dates are, and most importantly what everyone is wearing.
This year, actress Lauren Bacall will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Social networks and online fan sites are going ‘Oscarfrenzy’ as fans discuss their bets for up to the presenter list and food and menu for almost 4,000 guests.
Also making things interesting this year is the battle for the Best Director award between James Cameron and his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow. James Cameron directed the blockbuster Avatar, while Kathryn Bigelow directed what some call 'the underdog', The Hurt Locker.
