AI producer confirms JLo’s comeback
Jennifer Lopez will be coming back as a judge on the new season of “American Idol”, the program’s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said on Wednesday.
In an interview with AI host Ryan Seacrest in the latter’s radio show, Lythgoe confirmed Lopez’s comeback to the singing competition.
"I believe we're still waiting for the official announcements but I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of 'American Idol,' (are) back for the next season,” said Lythgoe, adding that they were still waiting for the official announcement of Fox network, which airs AI.
Lopez will be judge for AI’s 11th season alongside longtime AI judge Randy Jackson and rock icon Steven Tyler.
Lopez will get a “huge pay bump,” from $12 million last season to $20 million, MercuryNews.com reported.
Official MJ tribute lineup to be announced
The official lineup for the late Michael Jackson’s tribute concert will be announced on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila), representatives from the Jackson family revealed in an interview with CNN.
The “Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert” will be held on October 8 in Cardiff, Wales.
Promoter Global Live Events, as well as members of the Jackson family promised a star-studded list of performers in the tribute concert.
Among those tapped to perform were British singer and rapper Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguillera, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Usher.
Singers Justin Bieber, Chris Brown and Bruno Marz declined the invitation due to “scheduling conflicts,” online portal The Boombox reported.
The selling of tickets, which would supposedly start last week, was postponed due to delays in signing the acts.
Two Fil-Am teens won at Teen Choice Awards
Two Filipino-Americans were chosen by teens as their favorites during the 2011 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday (Monday in Manila).
Bruno Mars bagged the favorite Music Breakout Artist and Summer Music Star awards, while Glee star Darren Criss brought home the award for breakout television star.
The awards night was held at the Gibson Ampitheater in Los Angeles.
Charice to promote new album in Japan
International singing sensation Charice said she will promote her latest album in Japan, ABS-CBN reported.
Charice said in an interview that she is going to finish her new album, which is set to be released next month, in Japan.
"We don't have a date yet, but it is definitely going to be the fall. It is going to come out in Asia first, then here," Charice said regarding the release of the album.
Actor, 5 companions injured in road accident
Actor Joseph Bitangcol and five companions were injured when a dump truck sideswiped the vehicle they were riding in Antipolo on Wednesday.
Bitangcol’s pals who also incurred injuries were Venessa Beeina, 26; Karria Esleta Nee, 27; Mark Cendeno, 29; James de Luna, 21; and Leandro Victor Baldos, 29.
Bitangcol, 27, and his companions were on their way to Antipolo City onboard a red Mitsubishi Cendeno, with plate number PUQ 739, at around 4:40 am when the accident happened.
A dump truck, with plate number RBF 442 driven by Victor Deltran, 22, sideswiped the vehicle in front of Our Lady of Fatima University in Brgy. Sta. Cruz along Sumulong Highway, causing the latter to turn turtle.
Bystanders rushed the victims to the Amang Rodriguez Medical Center in Marikina City.
Police are preparing charges of reckles imprudence resulting to physical injuries against Deltran.
