Three different surveys from Pulse Asia, the Social Weather Stations (SWS), and the Manila Standard show reelectionists Senators Ramon Bong Revilla, Jinggoy Estrada, and Miriam Defensor-Santiago heading the senatorial race in this year’s elections.
According to the 1,800 respondents of Pulse Asia’s survey conducted February 21 to 25, 53.6% would vote for actor and lawmaker Bong Revilla, while 52.6% would vote for Jinggoy, son of former president Joseph Estrada. Santiago came in third with 49.4%.
Coming in next were Senator Pia Cayetano with 45.4%, former Senate President Franklin Drilon with 45%, and current Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile with 43.8%. Also in the running for the 12 senatorial slots were Tito Sotto with 33.2%, former National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) director Ralph Recto with 33.1%, former senator Serge Osmeña with 29.1%, Ilocos Norte Representative Bongbong Marcos with 28.2%, re-electionist Senator Lito Lapid with 25.8%, Bukidnon Representative Teofisto Guingona III with 24.3%, NBN-ZTE scandal whistleblower Joey de Venecia with 23.5%, and Muntinlupa Representative Ruffy Biazon with 22.7%.
The SWS survey, which took the opinion of 2,100 Filipino adults and was conducted on February 24 to 28, also placed Bong Revilla in first place with 54% saying they would vote for him, but it was Cayetano who came in second with 51%. Estrada and Santiago got 47% and 46% respectively.
They were followed by Drilon, again with 45%; Recto with 41%; Enrile with 40%; Sotto with 39%; Marcos with 32%; and Lapid and Osmeña with 31% each. According to the survey, Pimentel would have rounded off the 12 senatorial slots with 27% saying they would vote for him
The Manila Standard poll, on the other hand, saw Bong Revilla and Estrada heading the race, with Revilla coming in with 54% and Estrada with 53%. The survey was conducted on February 20 to 26, with 2,500 registered voters.
Santiago came next with 42%, followed by Cayetano with 42%, Drilon and Enrile with 41%, Sotto with 35%, and Recto with 33%. Marcos came next with 27%, Lapid with 26 %, and Osmeña and de Venecia with 23%.
