Friends of murdered overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Larry Gonzales are calling for help and donations to repatriate the remains of the Saipan-based migrant.
Gonzales, 22, succumbed to head injuries on March 4, three days after he was allegedly mauled by suspect Shane Jonathan Hocog near the Kagman High School.
According to the Mindoro Post, Gonzales was reportedly talking with his girlfriend when the mauling occurred. Hocog was reportedly an ex-boyfriend of Gonzales' girlfriend.
Gonzales is a native of Mindoro and was a former deliveryman at the closed Aqualite Water Company. He was confined at the Commonwealth Health Center and died of “brain contusion and laceration due to blunt trauma,” according to an autopsy report.
“We are appealing to the community for help so one of his brothers or sisters can come and be with him,” Gonzales' friend Ester Gracia said in a report on ABS-CBN News Online.
Miriam Buatis, a friend of Gonzales, and Saipan-based United Filipino Organization president Olive Yana said on the Mindoro Post that donors can contact them at (670) 287-0227, (670) 235-1225, (670) 285-7893, and (670) 234-6529.
Hocog is now detained at Saipan's Department of Corrections.
