Runner Joy
Rojas has suffered a pelvic injury which prevents her from
continuing the 5,000 km run from one end of the United States to
another for the Takbong Pangarap project.
In an e-mail
to Business Mirror's Francine
Medina-Marquez, Rojas said “I am not quitting...We’ve about a
third of the US left to cover and I know I can do it if I just get
better.”
She added that the deadline for
reaching her destination, New York, has been moved from September to
November. Rojas and Macabe are currently in Los Angeles while she
recuperates.
The stall in the project follows the
breakup of the original Takbong Pangarap team, which included Rojas,
her running partner and boyfriend Mat Macabe and Team Manager Chuck
Crisanto.
Macabe had alleged that Crisanto abandoned the project, taking 70% of the team's funds with him. Crisanto denied this, later releasing an advisory that he withdrew from Takbong Pangarap due to Rojas and Macabe's refusal to adhere to running the course continuously and with proper documentation.
