The family of a Swiss student who went missing in the Philippines back in September has offered a P200,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts.
24-year-old Alex Reich was last heard from on September 21, when he texted his friend “I am in a white car – coming soon!” on the way to the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City for the American Idol Live concert. There has been no contact from Alex since.
“I’m sure something happened, I’m also sure he’s still alive,” said his father Manuel Reich. He added that the family has not received any ransom demands.
The Philippine National Police (PNP's) Police Anti-Crime Emergency Unit (PACER) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU), as well as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Swiss police, and Interpol are all working on the case.
“We are familiar with the kindness and friendliness of the Philippine people and are hoping for additional, valuable information,” Manuel said. “Naturally we have great hopes night and day of soon being able to take our son Alex in our arms. We are counting on the help of the caring people of Manila and the whole Philippines.”
In addition to the offer of reward money, the elder Reich said during a press conference in Quezon City that 20,000 posters about Alex will be distributed around Metro Manila, Cebu, and other parts of the country.
Alex was a student of a language school in Quezon City. According to alexismissing.com, he is 5'9” feet tall (180cm), with blue eyes and blonde hair. He has numerous tattoos, including a samurai mask on his right arm.
Anyone with information on Alex’s whereabouts is urged to call 63 (02) 727-0000 or send an email to reward@alexmissing.com.
