Nora Aunor, Miami Heat coach in the Phils

Film star Nora Aunor, real name Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, has returned to the country to work on a film and some TV projects for the Kapatid network.

German Moreno and Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito welcomed the superstar, who has been living in the US for almost eight years, as she arrived at NAIA at around 4:00 a.m.

"Narito na po ako ... Masayang masaya ako nakarating ako rito. Miss na miss ko sila. Humihingi ako paumanhin sa fans na 'di ako nakarating, maraming salamat po,” Aunor told dzBB.

She said however that she is going to fly back to the US after three months for “a much-needed operation.”

The celebrity will be playing the role of Marcela Agoncillo in a movie about President Emilio Aguinaldo, and will also star in a mini-series for TV5.

Aunor, an actress, singer, and producer, was the first Filipino actor to win an international acting award in a major film festival, with the movie “The Flor Contemplacion Story.”

Aunor has also been recognized for her performance in films like Himala, Naglalayag, Bakit May Kahapon Pa, Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos, Merika, and others.

Miami Heat Fil-Am Coach arrives in Manila

Meanwhile, Miami Heat Filipino-American Coach Eric Spoelstra arrived in the country for a week-long NBA Fit Philippine Tour.

The Miami Heat coach will be speaking at the opening of the Third Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association today at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Spoelstra will also be appearing in the NBA Fit Clinic school tour at Emilio Aguinaldo College tomorrow; the NBA Cares program in Torres High School on Thursday; and an NBA Fit Development Camp in Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Friday.

“I feel very fortunate to be part of the NBA Fit program. I’ve been part of their team now for three years,” Spoelstra said. “Obviously in my profession being physically fit is critical for our players’ success and our team. But also personally, I’ve made fitness a pledge, that’s a lifetime commitment to try to be physically fit.”

“We want to educate Filipino kids as much as we can. With this NBA fit program, it’s about the importance to be physically fit. Finding different ways to be physically active, some of the easiest ways are with sports, with basketball but it can with other sports,” he added.
