Vice President Jejomar Binay’s net satisfaction rating dipped by five points last month – the same decline in President Benigno Aquino III’s net score in the same period – based on a new Social Weather Stations]] (SWS) report.
Binay’s net score dropped to just a “very good” +69 (78% satisfied, 9% dissatisfied), from an “excellent” net rating of +74 (81% satisfied, 7% dissatisfied) in March, BusinessWorld said in an exclusive report.SWS previously reported a five-point decline in President Aquino’s ratings to a “good” +46 in June from a “very good” +51 score three months earlier.
Other top officials also registered a decline in their net satisfaction ratings while major institutions chalked up so-so scores.
Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile’s net score dropped by four points in June to +39 from +43 in the previous quarter, although the new score still falls within the “good” category.” Meanwhile, House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte’s score dipped by two points to +15 (37% satisfied, 22% dissatisfied) from +17 (40% satisfied, 22% dissatisfied) in the previous survey period.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona remained the top official with the lowest net score, but was the only gainer among the top officials. Corona’s net rating climbed to a “neutral” zero from negative 4 previously.
Among major institutions, the Cabinet and the House of Representatives scored one-point gains in their net scores.
The Cabinet’s net satisfaction rating inched up to +25 (45% satisfied, 21% dissatisfied) from +24 (47% satisfied, 23% dissatisfied), which the SWS described as near the record high of +27 in June 1997 and March 1999.
The House meanwhile scored +31 (50% satisfied, 20% dissatisfied) from +30 (50% satisfied, 20% dissatisfied).
The Senate saw a two-point decline in its score, from +49 (65% satisfied, 16% dissatisfied) in March to +47 (64% satisfied, 16% dissatisfied). Meanwhile, the high court’s score stayed in the “moderate” range.
The SWS considers net satisfaction ratings of +70 and above as “excellent”; +50 to +69, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”, +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad”; -70 and below, “execrable.”
SWS’s nationwide survey was conducted from June 3 to 6 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults, with the sampling error margin at +/-3 % for national and +/- 6 % for area percentages.
