SONA on Twitter Trending Topics

In a matter of hours, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's ninth State of the Nation Address has become one of the 10 Trending Topics on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Other topics on the list include 'Harry Potter', 'AT&T' and 'Comic-Con'.

In addition to casual users tweeting comments on #SONA, there are various Twitterers sending comments and observations directly from around Batasang Pambansa, as well as mainstream news groups such as Yahoo! News Asia and the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Tweets about the SONA have covered the burning of the effigies in the president's likeness as part of the ongoing demonstrations, the wardrobe of those attending the event, President Arroyo's arrival at Batasan, and other events, as they were happening.

POC is also on Twitter with updates about the SONA.

I would have wanted to see a "softer" Pres. Arroyo, one who is not in a fighting mood stance because this is no longer the time to project such anyway she is on her way out. She should not leave the impression that she is always "mataray" even when she is trying to be funny. I though she would like to be endeared to the people and not polarized or identified to some political sectors. I am saddened that House of Representaive is not doing its job and be independent, I only see people who are there to lobby for their own interests not their constituents. If this institution continue to be collaborators and I think its better that it be dissolved. Who really cares about the SONA, the common people only remembers your stance, nuances your body language. The Filipinos are more discerning,observant and intelligent than some sectors would profile them to be. We see the truth behind the facade.
