According to Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, there will be a review of the first list of the medicines after three months to see if there is a need for them to cut other medicine prices by half.
The 50% price reduction for 21 medicines would take effect on August 15. One month will be given to drugstores to conform to the price cut.
A one-month grace period will be given to drugstores to conform to the government's instructions. "Ang mga maliliit na butika ay bibigyan ng hanggang September 15. Naintindihan natin na... ano... ang kanilang operating system at kailangan pang iimbentaryo ang kanilang mga gamot. Kaya hanggang isang buwang palugit mula August 15 (We understand the plight of smaller drugstores because they still they need to address inventory issues. That's why we gave them one month after August 15 to comply)," Duque told gmanews.tv.
