Poll delay updates

UPDATE As of 3:30 PM, here are more updates on the state of the polls:

At Commonwealth Elementary School, there were no COMELEC people around to address people's concerns, reports Twitter user geb0i.

Although things seem to have eased up for one of our #blogwatch correspondents (see here and here), issues continue to arise:

  1. JuanVote's main Twitter account reports this PCOS failure.
  2. Manolo Quezon reports this unusual text message from an anonymous voter.
  3. Out in Lopez, Quezon, Menardconnect reports that it was only vote number 400+ on the machine as he stepped out.
  4. Momblogger reports that voters in central Bicutan have not been able to use the PCOS machine since 8 AM.
  5. In an update to our earlier story on poll hours, Akbayan lawyers have weighed in, asking for a four-hour extension until 11 PM. This was reported by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
  6. Pat Evangelista reports angry scenes in Payatas, QC, as only 200 out of 900 persons in a clustered precinct have been able to vote so far.
Finally, blogger Oli R. uploaded this three-part video of a PCOS machine replacement that took place at Xavier School, San Juan, on YouTube. Links are reposted with his consent. (Part one) (Part two) (Part three)

Updates as of 2:50 PM on poll delays and potential electoral fraud, especially from #juanvote and #blogwatch tweeters:
  1. renguray reports having waiting four and a half hours to vote. She was the 161st voter in her precinct.
  2. Voltz says that ballots being given out in Oriental Mindoro already have their party-list entries shaded. A similar report has been tweeted by the Katribu party-list.
  3. In Lahug, Cebu City, dwightgalang reports that LP bet Mar Roxas's supporters are engaged in what seems to be a vote-buying tactic.
  4. Good news: here is a quick voting report from minavesguerra. Also, another report, from Davao, by lylesantos.
  5. Meanwhile, Brian King Ong has a PCOS problem report.
  6. Another report from Cebu by blogger tonyocruz says that the Abuno Elementary School there, as of 1 PM, had managed to serve only 400 voters. Another report from a precinct in Inayawan, Cebu states only 237 voters had been served as of 1 PM.
  7. Finally, as of 3 PM, this tweeting voter was only the 350th in his precinct.

In related news, PCIJ's Che de los Reyes writes that elderly and disabled people are suffering more from poll automation.

  1. Updates as of 1:45 PM on the poll delays, especially from #juanvote and #blogwatch tweeters:
  2. twinfishing reports from the Ismael Mathay Elementary School in QC that persons inside the precinct where she is voting have been there since 8 in the morning.
  3. Senator Loren Legarda got a mouthful from voters who were waiting in line in Malabon, says ABS-CBN News.
  4. Worker's Electoral Watch reports a 30-minute delay at the Quirino Elementary School in Quezon City.
  5. The Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that furious Cebu voters vented their frustration on Smartmatic employees.
  6. Nina Terol earlier said that people were leaving the queue in Las Piñas. Her patience paid off: she reports that she finally got to vote in her precinct in Las Piñas.

ANC reports that DepEd Assistant Secretary Jonathan Malaya is saying that teachers are demanding an extension beyond the 7 PM closing time which COMELEC announced earlier this morning. Bayan Muna has also made a similar demand, requesting an extension of the voting time by five hours.
