The 2010 elections
are eleven months away and the people's call for change has never
been louder. It is a clamor of many different, distinct voices –
calling for improvement in the government, or justice for the
marginalized, or values that should never be forgotten. All demanding
to be heard.
The Philippine Online Chronicles, together with Fr. Robert Reyes and in association with Kubol Pag-asa, offers a platform for those who wish to have a say.
Pilipinas 2.0 is a historic gathering that will bring together groups from a diversity of advocacies and causes, but all oriented towards the same thing – urgent change for the better. Its purpose is to encourage the Filipino youth to overcome passivity and indifference, and to provide them with a means for pursuing the changes that will make for a better future.
The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) will play host to the event on June 25, to be attended by the students of PLM and nearby colleges. 10-minute presentations will be given by representatives from the I Am Ninoy Movement, Gawad Kalinga, UP Babaylan, Kaya Natin! Movement with Ed Panlilio, First Time Voter's Project, Change Politics Movement and more.
There will also be musical performances by Noel Cabangon, Heber Bartolome, Papa Dom of Tropical Depression and Kontra Gapi, and comedy acts by Juana Change and Mr. Shooli.
Pilipinas 2.0 is part of the 10 for 2010 initiative, and a project of POC. 10 for 2010 is a call for individuals to have a personal say in the upcoming elections.
In an age where a multitude of voices are asking to be heard, Pilipinas 2.0 offers us the chance to listen.
